Hello, and welcome to Fenwick Manor Farm's web site. My name is Katharine Thompson, and with my husband, Stephan, we own and manage the Farm.

Many people ask us about the Farm, and its history. My great-great grandfather, James Fenwick, bought the original property in 1844; and the white, Adams' style manor house still bears his name. Fenwick's daughter married JJ White, one of the founding fathers of the cranberry industry, and the Manor became their home. Later, it was the early home of their daughter, Elizabeth White, who helped develop the cultivated blueberry. So much history, but this old Farm has learned some new tricks! Fenwick Manor Farm was the first in South Jersey to breed alpacas.

Today we have a colorful herd of huacaya and suri alpacas grazing in the pastures. Native to the high Andes mountains of Peru, Bolivia, and Chile, alpacas were first domesticated over 5,000 years ago. Long cherished for their cashmere-like fiber, in some 20 natural shades, alpacas have adapted well to the sandy pastures of the Jersey Pinelands. Fenwick Manor Farm web site home page So Fenwick Manor Farm has learned some new tricks, but we are obviously here to stay, and have a reputation for treating our customers the way we hope our descendents will be, 150 years from today. We welcome you to schedule a visit to Fenwick Manor Farm, and learn more about its alpacas.
